Eminence, MO and Current River Meetup
Please, please, please, read all the details. I know it is a lot but these details will inform you of important information. I am asking everyone to please rsvp here at the event so I can keep you informed of changes or updates that may pop up.
The Eminence, MO trip is going to be magical! The time of year we are going will be warm during the day and likely a little cooler at night. We are camping at the Alley Spring campground. I know some are coming early and some are staying later. Adam and Dee will arrive Thursday and depart Sunday at site 605. We will campfire Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. We will setup an outdoor kitchen area to share on our site. We will setup the grill for community use. We will potluck sides and sharables Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
There is NO cell service at Alley Spring campground. In fact, there is limited cell service in the area in general. I highly suggest printed directions to the campground and outfitters as a backup.
Come enjoy the area, the group, the sites and the paddles. Come go with the flow and adventure your way at your pace. We have to paddle meet ups planned. Come for as long or as short of a window as you can but be sure to come for this adventure!
Campout
Alley Spring, Eminence, MOTwo Tents or 1 RV and 1 tent per site only on Standard Family sites. If you want to site share, post it in the comments to partner up with someone. Camping tip for food, campgrounds have critters. If you have a cooler out, secure it closed with a strap or lock. Racoons can open coolers! Secure your trash in your camper, car or toss the trash bag at night it draws critters. Bring a flash light for walking to the bath house at night. The bathrooms/bathhouses at Alley Spring are community gender divided (men/women) toilets and showers. Bring towels, shower shoes (flip flops), soap/shampoo etc., hair dryer for the bath house showers.

Loop 600 (Electric Sites) Cluster as close to 605 as possible
Paddle Pointers
Bring snacks, water, & lunch for the paddle. A towel can be helpful to keep your legs from burning. A hat and sunscreen is highly suggested. This is a fairly quick river so swimming is a real possibility. Secure your belongings in a water proof dry bag with a carabiner to your kayak! A waterproof phone bag is a must if you are bringing your phone. (I don't bring my phone on the river). Bring a dry towel and dry change of clothes for the ride back.
Life Jackets Save Lives!! This is an amazing river that moves with a good current so I highly advise wearing your life jacket. If you have a throw bag bring it.
NO GLASS food or beverage containers may be possessed on the waterways or within 50 feet of any river, stream, cave or trail within Ozark National Scenic Riverways. We can swim in the river but not in the springs.
Friday, August 29, 2025 Cedar Grove to Akers Paddle
We will paddle Friday on the current river Cedar Grove to Akers. The outfitter is about an hour from the Alley Spring camp ground so this will be an early morning! We will depart Alley Spring campground at 8 am. The highlight of this paddle is the Welch Spring where the abandoned TB hospital ruins can be explored. It was built in 1913 and abandoned circa 1940. We will paddle up to the sandbar and park our kayaks and explore the hospital. We will use Jadwin Outfitter for rental and shuttle. If you are renting, reserve your kayak now. If you are bringing your own kayak, they do a little different kind of shuttle. You take your vehicle to the put in and they move it back to the take out for $65. Those with boats that want to car pool for cost sharing of the vehicle move fee we can do car pool too the put in and take out.
