What weโre about
Note: RSVPs don't reflect turnout - we were an existing community before we created a Meetup group. All of our gaming events have solid turnout!
Good Game GR (GG GR) is the largest tabletop gaming community in Grand Rapids, MI. We host meetups all over the Grand Rapids area and we're committed to growing a community that is inclusive to all that share the love of board, card, and tabletop roleplaying games in West Michigan.
We do our best to ensure our events are accessible no matter your experience with the hobby. We keep it a positive, cozy, and welcoming place for all.
The community really lives on Discord, where we have over 1,800 members and post many more events. Please join us there: Good Game GR Discord Server
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Monday Game Night @ Rezervoir LoungeRezervoir Lounge, Grand Rapids, MI
Parking: There's a free lot behind the bar that usually has plenty of space. You can enter the venue from there (red door).
Discord: Folks sometimes organize games on our Discord server ahead of time, especially if they're playing heavier games. Please join that and head to #the-rez channel: Good Game GR Discord Server
What to Expect:
- Good people, good food/drink, and good games! ๐
- No experience necessary, every game starts off with a teach.
- Games all complexity are played so you can choose your vibe.
- There will be name stickers out on a table across from the bar. Please feel welcome to use them!
- We like to start off with short games and break into groups as people arrive, but showing up closer to 6pm is a great way to be able to hop right into a game.
- This event averages 25+ people, but the venue gives us so much space for us to spread out that it's never crowded.
If you have any concerns or are feeling nervous, please feel welcome to reach out in the discussion or message me and I'm happy to plan on playing something with you. Even if you don't, we're always there making sure new folks are being welcomed and everyone is being included.

What is worldbuilding?
Worldbuilding is the process of constructing an imaginary world or setting, sometimes associated with a fictional universe. Developing the world with coherent qualities such as a history, geography, culture and ecology is a key task for many science fiction or fantasy writers. Worldbuilding often involves the creation of geography, a backstory, flora, fauna, inhabitants, technology and often if writing speculative fiction, different peoples. This may include social customs as well as invented languages for the world.
What do we mean by 'GMing'?
Being a GM, or GameMaster (DM/DungeonMaster for those who are Old School) involves planning, research, organization, creativity, player engagement and, at all times, a social awareness of both what your players are looking for, and what they themselves might be going through. Turns out, Life affects one's Game, and staying in tune with your players helps the entire table have a safe and enjoyable time.
