Coworking Jam and Barnraising: Last Jam of 2014!

Details

Are you starting a social impact org? Or have you been running one out of your living room and now you need to get out of the house every once-in-awhile? We’ve got the perfect solution. New Work City and Goodnik are partnering to host a recurring ad-hoc coworking session every Wednesday from 9:30am-6pm. New Work City will open a section of their space for goodniks to get together, work on their own projects, and get to know each other.

NOTE: This is the last Jam of 2014 so if you've come in the past, join us again and we'll get together for a celebratory lunch!

Here are the basics of the Jam:

Coworking begins at 10am; if you're there at 10am, we'll do a quick round of introductions, but if you're later than that you'll have to just wait until lunch or barnraising

From 10am to 11:30 is crunch time; this coworking jam is about getting out of the house, getting around a table and working on your social impact project, whether that's a startup or your regular day job. While it's a social version of working, it's not a social event.

At 11:30 we'll jump to the conference room for the barnraising; talk about what we're working on that we might need help with for a few minutes, and help brainstorm for other people. If you want to present a "challenge" that is more than a couple of minutes, like you want to workshop a marketing plan or website redesign or something, send me an email and we will schedule 20 minutes for that (one person per week max). Not everyone has to go to the barnraising. You can come to the coworking and not the barnraising, you can come to the barnraising and not stay for the coworking, it's your choice.

At 12:30 we will resume coworking, and people can jet to grab lunch whenever they want, or we could do a group order if everyone wants to do that. After lunch is crunch time again; work sprints, just cranking out that grant proposal you've been working on or whatever. Coworking ends at 5pm. Or whenever you want to take a break.

That sounds like a lot of "rules" but it's really not - it's really just a guide for folks who might not understand what this is about or might not be familiar with coworking. If you have questions, drop me a note!

Space is limited to 15 people. If you RSVP but your schedule changes, please update your RSVP at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to show up or update your RSVP will result in bad mojo, And nobody likes bad mojo.

While we introduce this experiment, the price for the event is "pay what you think it's worth." After running it for a month or two, we will institute some sort of fee or membership requirement, but that has yet to be determined. Until then, join us in gathering social entrepreneurs, nonprofits and other impact projects for a regular jam session and barnraising.
