Talk #1: From Local Environments to Cloud Workspaces on GCP: Challenges, Strategies, and Proven Approaches [Jozef Kruszynski & Toni Liebscher, Platform Engineers at REWE International AG]

As modern development teams seek flexible, efficient, and secure ways to build software, migrating from local developer machines to cloud-based workspaces has become increasingly compelling. However, this shift presents challenges in areas like infrastructure design, security controls, scalability, and cost management.

In this talk, we’ll examine these hurdles and outline strategies for success drawn from our own journey. We’ll cover best practices for ensuring developer productivity, maintaining data security, and optimizing resources to avoid unnecessary spending. Finally, we'll introduce how we leveraged Coder OSS to address these challenges, showcasing the key lessons learned and benefits realized.
