At tonight's event we'll be looking at the Rust programming language and how to deploy a Rust app using Cloud Run

Tonight's event is also a Venturefest Rumble event, which means attendees can get a FREE ticket to Venturefest, the south's leading innovation event. Go to VFS2022 and use Promo code: VFESTBDC

Rust: Good, Fast, Cheap – Pick Three

Hundreds of companies around the world are using Rust in production today for fast, low-resource, cross-platform solutions. Software you know and love, like Firefox, Dropbox, and Cloudflare, uses Rust. From start-ups to large corporations, from embedded devices to scalable web services, Rust is a great fit

However, in tonight's lightning talk we’ll focus on another feature of Rust that doesn't get as much attention: Rust is CHEAP!

Cloud Run Code Lab

Cloud Run is a managed compute platform that enables you to run stateless containers that are invocable via HTTP requests. Cloud Run is serverless: it abstracts away all infrastructure management, so you can focus on what matters most — building great applications

Key Features

Any language, any library, any binary

Use the programming language of your choice, any language or operating system libraries, or even bring your own binaries.

Leverage container workflows and standards

Containers have become a standard to package and deploy code and its dependencies. Cloud Run pairs with existing container ecosystems: Cloud Build, Cloud Code, Artifact Registry, and Docker.

Pay‐per‐use

Only pay when your code is running, billed to the nearest 100 milliseconds.

In the Code Lab, we will walk you through the steps of creating a simple web application and deploying it to Cloud Run. The application will be developed in Rust which makes it memory-safe and fast. In the world of Cloud Run, fast means cheap!
