Got data? meetup 5: production lessons from Databricks in the wild
Details
Join us for another evening of technical deep-dives and discussions. This time, we'll share insights and experiences on the all-in-one Databricks data platform, when and why to use it, and how to employ it for maximum data pipeline maintainability. Regardless of whether you're currently a Databricks expert, data engineering/science enthusiast or backend/frontend developer, you'll leave with a deeper understanding of modern, real-world data engineering than you arrived with.
Presentations:
- Gabriel Watson, data engineer, provides a high-level view of the when and why to employ Databricks as a tool - how it differs from other options and why it might be the right fit for your data challenge
- Suranga Nanayakkara, Databricks expert, demonstrates the real-world value of Spark Declarative Pipelines for Big Data, walks us through what they are and how they enable hasssle-free data pipeline management, for streaming as well as batch workloads, if applied thoughtfully
As always, we’ll leave plenty of space for questions and open discussion - whether about deployment pitfalls, AI experiences, Vibesort or your favourite Linux package. Grab a beer, share your thoughts, and connect with others tackling the same challenges.
Optional homework: do you have a data project that you want to brag about or get input on? Bring your laptop and show us!
