What we’re about
Do you enjoy riding your bike with friends? So do we! We are located in one of the top bike friendly cities in the US, Portland, Oregon. Many of our rides start and finish in the core area of our great city.
Our dedicated and friendly ride leaders are passionate about riding and post rides according to their interest and training level. Each posted ride will have a detailed description of what to expect. Please read the description and if you have any questions, contact the ride leader. They are a friendly group and are always willing to answer your questions.
Our rides have size limits for safety reasons, which is very important to us. We have discovered the fun factor increases when we limit the size of the group to a manageable size.
The ride leaders volunteer their time and energy to plan and organize all the rides you will find posted here. We greatly appreciate each one of them and all they do for us.
We hope you join us on a ride and discover the fun of cycling with friends!

See all- Part of Great American Rail-Trail - Self-Guided from Pittsburg, PA to DCNeeds location
I want to cycle a 330+ mile rails-to-trails adventure with a company that will handle the logistics. The trip will span approximately 9 days, taking us from Pittsburgh, PA to Washington DC. The exact start date will depend on the number of participants, the deposits they send to “Noble Invention Bike Touring” and our participant list; the sooner we know the number of riders, the higher our chances of securing this trip. To work with my availability, I plan to request a start date between May 5th and May 10th, 2025, with an end date between May 14th and May 19th. (I first need to confirm participants and each individual needs to pay their deposit to “Noble Invention Bike Touring” before they can determine the exact dates.)
Here’s a link to the trip description: https://www.nobleinventionbiketouring.com/trips/gap-co-towpath/8-day-self-guided/. The price is an estimate, and I’ve gathered some details from the tour company so far:- Reservations aren’t made until full deposits are received from all riders.
- You will pay your deposit and payments directly to Noble Invention Bike Touring. All payments and returns will be through Noble Invention Bike Touring based on their policies.
- They can not provide exact dates until they make the reservations, that is why I have a range of days above.
- Once the trip is booked, no additional riders can be added.
- If a rider drops out and finds a substitute, their deposit can be transferred. Any settlement between the exiting and incoming riders will need to be arranged between them.
- We will need to determine roommate arrangements and provide names to the tour company.
- Double-occupancy rooms often have one queen-sized bed, though it may be possible to pay extra for a single room at certain locations. Some double-occupancy rooms should have 2 separate beds. In most cases the tour company should be able to tell us which rooms have separate beds and give us option if the location only has a single queen bed for double-occupancy rooms.
- What we need to provide to the tour company:
a. Number of riders (up to 12, but smaller groups are easier to accommodate)
b. Number of rooms needed, with details on roommate arrangements.
c. With/without luggage transport (must be the same for entire group; if one person opts for luggage transfer, everyone must pay for it). See trip description link above for costs (subtract quote for with luggage from quote without luggage). - For any additional questions, feel free to contact Kelley directly at kelley@nibiketouring.com with questions. It helps her if you mention your part of my group so she can keep things organized.
I'll be in Mexico until January 20th. If you’re interested in joining, please email me at tstag0@hotmail.com, and I’ll start compiling a list.
By signing up for this trip, you AGREE to the following:
Organizers, event hosts and other participants will not be held responsible for any individual at any event.
Each participant attends at their own risk and is solely responsible for any damage to their equipment or themselves.
Each participant is responsible for their own payments. Refunds for deposits or payments are not the responsibility of this meetup group. All payments will be directly paid to “Noble Invention Bike Touring” and will be use their policies.

The Build series is intended to help riders work towards completing century rides, either Imperial or metric. The typical ride will be a Zone 1 heart rate ride with the last 20 miles at Zone 2.

- Silverton Hills and Rollers!Coolidge McClaine Park, Silverton , OR
Do you enjoy hills and rollers? This one of my favorite routes, starting in the town of Silverton. It is published as an out & back ride to the first overlook, pictured. At that point, the group can decide whether to do the out & back, and or complete the waterfall loop. The mileage and cumulative altitude will be about the same for both options.
With recent rains, the full waterfall route might be appealing, but will have more traffic. Our decision will be based on traffic, wind, and temps on the day we ride. (NB: In the past there has been an occasional log truck on this route, but I have not encountered any issues.)
Bring a power snack to have at the halfway point at the overlook. Please bring two water bottles. There are no commercial facilities along the way.
The weather so far looks good, but changes will be posted.
Route:
https://ridewithgps.com/trips/226340064
The out & back ride is approximately 33 miles with 2900 ft of climbing. There are two major climbs, one at the very beginning and one at the 12 mile point, which is the turn onto Silver Falls Highway. However there are some smaller hills and fun rollers in both directions. The entire ride is on two lane rural roads without bike lanes. This is a low traffic route, but there may be occasional trucks as noted and some tourist traffic once we turn onto the Silver Falls Hwy.
Please study the route and elevations. If you are not comfortable with these conditions please do not sign up for the ride.
Restrooms at the start in Silverton. There may be porta potties at other overlooks on the full loop.
To contact me, Marcy, text to 503-539-9226. If you sign on to this ride, please text me your mobile number.
Optional coffee in Silverton after the ride.
Attitude/Altitude: This is a ride for folks who like to climb. Everyone rides at their own pace on climbs and we will re-group strategically. There will be a rest stop at the first overlook pictured.
Weather Cancellation Policy: Wet weather and/or high winds cancels this hilly ride. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jeB9_VmkNc
Required Gear: HELMETS must be worn at all times while riding. This is a requirement and not a request.
Recommended Gear: Always bring plenty of water, snacks for energy, a flat repair kit, including a spare tube. A tool kit and small pump is good, but if you don’t have one there is usually someone on a group ride who does. Please check to see if someone has what you might need if you don't and be prepared to ride a bus or call a cab. (Not that we'll leave you by the road broken down, because that's not us). Carry a credit card and a little cash to buy refreshments or buy that bus ticket....
