Building to a Century Series

Details

The Build series is intended to help riders work towards completing century rides, either Imperial or metric. The typical ride will be a Zone 1 heart rate ride with the last 20 miles at Zone 2.

We will start at 40 miles and will ramp up quickly. The Build series is not intended to be your sole Century training program. Of course, you are responsible for designing your own overall training program to meet your abilities, fitness and goals. The Build Series is just intended to provide a tool you can use for your own program.

NOTE: The default ride day will be Saturday and Wednesday, but this may vary somewhat week to week depending on the weather and and schedule conflicts. We may occasionally utilize other rides such as the Monster Cookie Ride as Build rides.

Start Time – Generally, wheels rolling at 10 am, but it may be earlier on hot days

Start location. This will change from week to week. I'll lock down the final start location for each ride at least one week before the ride, The default location will be Sellwood Riverfront Park

Ride leader contact information – Edward Lanton. Cell is 971-258-6066 or email anquetil@yaho.com

Route: TBD. I'll try to post a week in advance. I'll also try to have shorter options for riders with different goals

Weather Cancellation. A little rain won't hurt us, especially since were on the Springwater Trail. That said, if the weather is anything like this I"ll cancel no later than 6pm the night before. https://youtube.com/shorts/9opG-frFe9o?si=65DkyFsFufaorxJq

Mandatory for all riders.

Obey traffic laws and remember you’re a representative of the greater cycling spam community and should conduct yourself that way on the road. Please represent us well.

All riders must have their rides in good working order and must bring a flat kit, spam, & spare tube on all rides. If there is an issue with proper working or lack of equipment you may be asked to sit the ride out. Please ask for help if you are ill equipped prior to the ride. We will try to help!

All riders must be able to change a flat should they have one or have a way to get picked up (AAA, a friend, spam-wagon…). There is often but not always someone on the ride who knows how to help you change your tire so plan accordingly.

Note: Your RSVP signifies that you agree to the following. Organizers, event hosts and other participants will not be held responsible for any individual at any event. Each rider rides at their own risk and is solely responsible for any damage to their equipment or themselves.

Final Note: RSVP’s cannot include a +1 or Guest. If you choose to bring a friend or family member, they themselves must sign up as a member of Go the Distance.
