Galterö Hike
Details
This time we'll be doing one of my personal favorite hikes - another beginner-friendly trail of about 10km on the lovely island of Galterö, a nature reserve in Gothenburg's Southern Archipelago. The trail has minimal elevation changes and is in good condition. On this hike you will see a beautiful coastal environment with beaches, grasslands, inland wetlands, and great views of the ocean.
The pace will be relaxed, with plenty of time to take photos and chat. The goal is to enjoy the nature and the company, not to rush to the finish line!
Somewhere around the halfway point, we'll find a nice spot to take a break. Feel free to bring a thermos with coffee/tea and a snack (a classic fika!) to enjoy.
We will meet at Saltholmens Brygga (the Saltholmen ferry terminal) at 1:00 PM on August 2nd and take the ferry to Brännö Rödsten together. From there, it's a short walk across Brännö island to the bridge leading to Galterö.
Please Note: The ferry is part of the Västtrafik public transport system and requires a valid ticket, just like the bus or tram. The easiest way is to buy your ticket on the Västtrafik app before we board.
Be sure to bring:
- Sturdy hiking shoes or boots
- Outdoor/athletic clothing (check the weather!)
- Essential medications (inhaler, EpiPen, etc)
- Plenty of water (at least 1L / person)
- A snack/fika for our break
