Total Lunar Eclipse
Details
September is going to be a great month for stargazing - on September 7, there will be a total lunar eclipse, and it will be visible in its totality from Gothenburg!
We will meet just before the start of the eclipse at 7:30pm on September 7 at the viewpoint at the top of Ramberget in Keillers Park and stay until the eclipse is over around 11pm or so. If you're going by bus, Rambergsvallen or Wieselgrensplatsen are the best stops to get out at. You can easily walk from there to Keillers Park.
If you aren't comfortable walking to Ramberget by yourself at night, we can also meet at Wieselgrensplatsen or Nordstan and travel to Ramberget as a group. Just send me a message to let me know if you'd prefer to meet up at one of these locations instead.
There won't be an RSVP limit for this event, but for this special occasion, I will be reserving my main telescope for my own observing and astrophotography throughout the eclipse. To make sure everyone gets a great magnified view, my Celestron spotting scope and binoculars will be available for everyone to use throughout the event.
Of course, you are free to come and go as you please, but please be considerate and use a red light or keep your flashlight off when you are approaching the group. This is important for preserving everyone's night vision.
What to bring:

Something to sit on (if desired)

Binoculars (if you have them)
As always, keep in mind that stargazing is very dependent on the weather, so we may need to cancel or reschedule on short notice if conditions aren't right for viewing. I will keep an eye on the forecast and give the go or no go ~24 hours before the event.
