What? Can you do that in Python? - 15 things every Python programmer should know
Details
Joakim Wassberg, who is a professional Python instructor, will tonight show us 15 things every Python programmer should know. Not all of the topics will be something you will use in your everyday code, but it will help you get a better understanding of the language and will show the built-in strength and flexibility of Python. There will be something here for beginners as well as for professional Python programmers. We will cover the easy and the advanced so this evening will be a ride into some of the less known corners of the language where we will find some useful stuff. The goal of the evening is that everyone should learn something new.
Telia has kindly offerred to host the meeting, and will provide some food & drink for participants. You will also need to register in reception and get a name badge.
Update 2017-09-07: Due to the unprecedented number of people signing up for this meetup (woohoo!) I've spoken to our contact at Telia and happily, we've been able to book a larger room. (Thankyou Telia!) So I just increased the attendee limit. I've also agreed that Praqma (my employer) will also step in and sponsor part of the cost of the refreshments, seeing as the meeting is going to be much larger than anticipated.
Update 2017-09-14, from Joakim:
Hi everyone!
The interest for this meetup is a surprise, a nice one I should add, and I am very excited and looking forward to it.
I made the description of this meetup intentionally a bit vague. The reason for that was that it gave me some extra time to plan the actual content. As we now are getting closer I have a rather good idea what we will cover.
From your profiles I can see that we have a great mix, from people who are interested but not done any programming in Python yet to those of you who have been using it for a very long time.
I love challenges so it is a thrilling task to pick 15 topics so all of you will get something good out of the evening. We will see if I succeed.
I will present 15 different topics that I, in one way or the other, find interesting, or that illustrates an interesting side of Python. Some of these topics will be very easy to understand and some of you will probably already know about them and others will be very advanced.
I will present these topics and show you some code for how they can be used. The idea is that we after each topic will discuss and maybe play around with the code.
If you want you can bring your own computer and try out what we talk about as we go but it is not required. All code that we see will be posted online so you can try it out yourself later on.
I will be using Python 3.6 so if you plan to code along you should make sure that you have the latest version installed.
See you all on wednesday.
