ABSTRACT
Digital Brain Activity
Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks. All these are popular names for the same thing: Trying to mimic human brain processes with a computer. To fully understand the power and complexity of what we are dealing with, it is important to dive into the techniques behind it all. This talk will do a soft start looking into the biological brain and our decision processes and end up taking us to school by showing the theory of Machine Learning. No Machine Learning/Neural Network knowledge is needed to follow this talk. The talk will teach you the fundamentals and bring you to the right level for the following talk
BIO
Preben Thorø, CTO Trifork GmbH, Member of Trifork's GOTO Conference Program Committees.
Preben Thorø has a background as CTO, Coach, Scrum Manager, Tech Lead, and is part of the Trifork GOTO Conference program committees. His technical background mainly dates back to Java/J2EE and iOS. He is currently trying to take everything he has learned from the industry - big and small - and combine it with the IoT world. In his sparetime he is actively supporting both the Swiss and the Danish alpine skiing communities.
Preben is convinced that by understanding the real world, history, cultures, nature, universe, we become better software developers.

ABSTRACT
Relating to Machine Learning
Machine Learning is still a black box in the eyes of many and it can be very hard to identify its potential pitfalls. But before falling down into a pit, how do you even get started? An approach could be to use one of the many Machine Learning as a Service (MLaaS) solutions, but are they any good? Wouldn’t it be better to create your own custom models from scratch to start with? This talk will address these questions and give an overview of the most common pain points when working with Machine Learning. It will wrap up with a good strategy for approaching your projects using MLaaS and open sources tools. People with either a technical or business background will be able to relate and benefit from this session.
BIO
Stefan Veis Pennerup, iOS Engineer and Machine Learning Lead at Trifork.
Stefan Veis Pennerup is an iOS/ML engineer and the main driving force behind Machine Learning at the Trifork office in Aarhus, Denmark. Besides a good mood, he has a background in Mechatronics Engineering and has collected good cultural experiences from living in South America, Asia and Europe. He has recently developed a habit of using Brazilian flip-flops during presentations and has a hypothesis that Machine Learning and flip-flops are related - although correlation does not automatically imply causation. Introducing new customers to Machine Learning on a regular basis has prepared him with a long list of easy digestible examples that a 10 year old can relate to and that a business partner wants to hear about.
