Our current political social media environment prioritizes clap-backs while dissuading thoughtful discourse on what we value and how to achieve it. Online discourse makes it easy to dehumanize those with different views because we don't talk with them in depth.
This is not inherent to the online medium; it is the result of business choices made by social media companies.
We believe:
- Spirited, sincere, and safe discussion on public policy is not only possible but necessary
- People, in the right environment, are able to find areas of agreement and consensus that is better than the status quo
- Executing the genuine will of the people is the purpose of government.
Today, we have information systems that allow people to instantly and interactively speak and vote for themselves rather than delegating their will to another.
⟪ ⏱️ Near Term ⟫ Create an open source app where people can poll others, see how their views compare and chat about political issues
⟪ ⏳ Long Term ⟫ Make a platform for creating policy inspired by the tried-and-tested vTaiwan process.
We're open to people of all political orientations that believe in democracy as a mode of governance and our civil rights as recognized by law.
We especially need:
- Legal professionals
- Grontend/backend/ux devs
- Graphic designers
- Psychologists/sociologists
