To kick off this exciting series of discussions, the very first meetup of GovTech will be about:

What is GovTech? Why are we talking about GovTech?

We'll begin with a discussion of the findings of the report "GovTech: an Emerging Sector Revolutionising Public Services" highlighting the institutional structures make the UK as one of the global leaders and the capacity of GovTech to fundamentally change the way Government and Civil Society delivers services. Class4Kids - Nikki Thng is CEO and Founder of Class4Kids (https://www.class4kids.co.uk/) a platform for parents so they can book, pay and manage after school clubs. Nikki a serial entrepreneur became so frustrated at trying to book an after school club for his children he decided to do something about it, set up a platform to do this with no previous software development experience. He started from Glasgow has got some tremendous traction and is now expanding nationwide. https://www.class4kids.co.uk/

DataKind - Emma Prest Datakind (http://www.datakind.org/) UK an inspiring not for profit that harnesses the power of data science to improve societal outcomes. The UK Datakind Chapter has run workshops so the charitable sector can understand how to use data and developed a data maturity framework. Wider examples of DataKind work, advancing financial inclusion in Senegal and working on challenges focused on protecting and improving the lives of at risk children and young adults in North America http://www.datakind.org/

WhereismyTransport - Devin De Vries Whereismytransport (https://whereismytransport.com/) Cape Town and London a transport platform that offers integrated data solutions for formal and informally run transport in emerging economy Cities. Through data collection and data connection we help cities understand their transport so everyone can get where they want to go.
