Could GovTech become bigger than Fintech?

Details

Hello all people interested in GovTech, this month we are holding a joint meetup with two Fintech groups, "We are Fintech" and "Fintech for Good" asking the question “Could GovTech become bigger than Fintech”
We are looking forward to some great speakers & some lively debate.

Fintech has been one of the outstanding successes of the UK startup ecosystem in the last 8 years, cumulating in the $280m series E funding of Transferwise in November 2017, the acquisition of the UK's first AIM listed Fintech FreeAgent for $73m in March 2018 and investment in UK Fintech being c $2.9bn in 2017.

However, GovTech is gaining momentum as it is passing from an emergent state and is poised to go global, it could be in a similar position to FinTech 5 years ago, according to a report GovTech: an Emergent Sector Revolutionising Public Services. Global government spending on technology is one of the largest ICT segments and is estimated to be a market worth at least $450 billion, with the US worth over $100 billion.
