Présentation #1: Grafana for Application Observability (en anglais)
Do you want to give Grafana a try for Application Observability (App O11y), but you don't have the time to adapt your application for it? Until now, instrumenting an application to get metrics and traces, required, in the best case, adding a programming language specific agent to your deployment/packages. For some programming languages like Go, you had to manually add tracepoints into your code. Whichever approach you took, you always needed to redeploy the instrumented version of your application. This talk is about a new tool developed by Grafana, which can significantly flatten the curve of Application Observability adoption. By leveraging eBPF, we can now automatically instrument your Linux HTTP/S and gRPC services, without any application code or configuration changes. Once deployed, the eBPF auto-instrumentation tool is able to report basic transactions span information, as well as Rate-Errors-Duration (RED) metrics.
