Silent auction begins at 6:30 pm. Many members have donated beautiful southwest themed books, jewelry, pottery, rugs and clothing. Come to browse or buy; all proceeds go to our chapter. At 7:00 pm, Jim Krehbiel will present Sightlines and Site Lines. Jim will discuss his astronomical research findings at Ancestral Pueblo sites in southeast Utah. He will show alignment systems from observatories and architecture and discuss the cultural importance of these sites to ancient peoples.
Jim has a background in art, archaeology and surveying. He has worked in the Bears Ears region for the past 16 years. Jim is the former Chair and Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts at Ohio Wesleyan University and uses his arachaeoastronomy field research to inspire his printmaking, drawing and digital artwork. Event is free with donations accepted.
