"The Real World Has No API — That’s Why We Use ADCs"

Details
Please note: Check back occasionally on the venue. There is a spot on campus that has an interest in bringing us there for the month!
Welcome & welcome back to the students.
We will have two presentations this month.
- Start up compensation packages - what are you really getting paid?
- "The Real World Has No API — That’s Why We Use ADCs"
Please take a moment to thank Karl for his non-trivial efforts to host us at CMU's wonderful facilities.
Please remember this is a free event. We run on Karma only. Get the word out!
Start up comp - Boyd Hemphill
Did you know that if you do the math on most startup options they have $0 value? Why is this? How should you price them? This is a short presentation around compensation in early and mid stage startups. I will share my two successful exits and several failures.
The goal of this talk is to help folks know what questions to ask when negotiating compensation. We will not be able to answer all questions that are likely to come up but we will be able to connect you to those who can.
"The Real World Has No API — That’s Why We Use ADCs" - Neil Forcier
Ever wonder how digital systems interact with the real world? Whether it's a temperature sensor, radar pulse, or a wireless signal, analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are the silent workhorses that translate the continuous, noisy analog world into clean, usable digital data.
This presentation introduces the world of ADCs—what they are, why they matter, and how they’re used across a range of applications including communications, sensor interfaces, and industrial automation. We'll demystify how an ADC works and how they make real world measurements.
To bring theory into practice, we’ll include a live demonstration of an ADC in action making a precision measurement.
Finally this presentation will include a short introduction of a new tech business coming to the Grand Valley this fall -- Aanabit LLC
