Howdy y'all! This month we will introduce a new format with PayTalk and a related follow-on talk. Given the success of the open-space format a few months ago, I'm keen to see how this format pans out!

This is a new format for our Meetup. We will anonymously collect compensation data from attendees and disaggregate it to see what we learn.

Students - you will be excluded from the data collection (unless you have a tech role or internship), but you will learn a great deal about the variety of comp packages out there!

Second Acts: How to live the dream without quitting your day job

Imagine you’ve won the lottery: money is no object and you’re free to pursue ‘the dream.’ You probably won’t win—but that thought experiment can be surprisingly powerful. In this interactive session we’ll use the “second act” exercise to surface what you’d do if constraints disappeared, then translate those insights into practical changes you can make now. You’ll leave with simple mental frameworks and actionable tactics to increase meaning, autonomy, and enjoyment in your current work—no resignation letter required. Ideal for people early in their careers and those who’ve been at it for decades.

Noah’s tech career was short — just 8 years across two companies, Grubhub and Stripe — but packed with a lot of punch. He went from junior engineer to Staff Engineer to Engineering Manager, 8x’d his compensation along the way, and mentored 15–20 engineers figuring out their own paths. Now on sabbatical and reflecting on what’s next, Noah is passionate about helping people find more meaning and enjoyment in their work — no resignation letter or lottery ticket required.
