Hike 100 Challenge: High Banks Rollaway to Townline Road
Details
CHANGE IN PLANS FOR Grand Traverse Chapter's 2025 Hike 100 Challenge - High Banks Rollaway to Townline Road.
Please update your RSVP to this event. IT'S A GREAT FALL HIKE!
Hike Leader: Nancy Briggs
This hike has been changed to: Baxter Bridge to High Banks Rollway & back, with shuttle to Dell Rd for optional roadwalk back to your car.
The hike will start on No 29 1/2 Rd at the NCT trailhead for a hilly 2.7 mile hike up to High Banks Rollway, where the group will stop for lunch at the overlook. Afterwards, the group will hike back down to our cars for 5.4 miles of our 100-Mile Challenge. From there, if you would like to get a few more easy NCT miles, a shuttle to Dell Rd will be provided for the roadwalk back on dirt (E. County Line Rd) & paved (No 29 1/2 Rd) roads, which is another 2.5 miles. You should bring water, lunch or snack, hiking poles & good footwear. The acorns can be slippery, and the roots might be covered by leaves, so extra care is needed.
DIRECTIONS:
Google Maps: FFWF+52G Kingsley, Michigan
From the traffic light in Kingsley, go east along M113 for one mile, then turn south (right) on Summit City Rd for 5 miles to County Line Rd. Turn right, then left on No 29 1/2 Rd (Baxter Bridge Rd) until you pass the houses. Watch for the NCT trailhead on the right on the hill before you get to the Manistee River access. If you cross the Manistee River, you've gone too far.
