MMR - Monday Morning Ride: Six Cheshire County Covered Bridges

Details

This 33 mile moderate ride visits six covered bridges in Swanzey, Winchester, and Ashuelot. Partially a loop ride, from the Coombs Covered bridge in Winchester, it's an out and back to the Ashuelot Covered Bridge. Most of this ride is on rural roads with typical NH hills. There are a couple of brief stretches on Rt 10, including in the middle of Winchester, where caution is advised.

We'll ride from the Fish and Game access parking lot on Sawyers Crossing Road in Swanzey, adjacent to the Sawyers Crossing Bridge aka The Cresson Bridge. You step from your car to view the first bridge. It's a fairly small dirt lot.

  • Monday Ride Group Guidelines

  • Expect a 11-12+ mph average ride pace and 12-15 mph level ground rolling speed ... plus or minus with hills and wind.

  • While the ride is considered "no drop," riders are expected to make a reasonable effort to maintain the published pace to avoid significantly disrupting the group flow so that all can enjoy the ride.

  • Bring your water, snack, Road ID, and required helmet.

  • Safety First!

  • Consideration. Consistency. Communication.
