N89ers Mascoma Lake
Details
Meet and leave from Drummond bike shop’s parking area at the Shaker Village off of Rt 4A in Enfield (about 3 miles south of the intersection with Rt 4) at 10:00 am.
Ride is about 23 miles, including 3.5 miles of good dirt road and three miles of very good rail trail.
This is a no drop ride at a 10-12 mph average ride pace and 12-14 mph level ground rolling speed. While the ride is considered "no drop," riders are expected to make a reasonable effort to maintain the published pace to avoid significantly disrupting the group flow.
The route has a fair amount of uphill for the first 10 miles or so, but level or downhill for the second half of the trip. The “dirt roads” and the rail trail are usually well maintained and suitable for gravel bikes and E-bikes.
The rail trail is virtually level with outstanding views of a largely undeveloped portion of Mascoma Lake.
Note: 17.1 To shorten trip by 4 miles (and miss the most beautiful part of the route) go left on Main St, cross bridge, left on 4A for a mile to Drummonds.
