Here's what's on the Agenda
π£οΈ Speaker Spotlight:
π Speaker 1: Transcending microservices hell for Supergraph Nirvana
Talk Description: If you've worked in technology for longer than a couple of years, you'll have taken a ride on the architectural see-saw. After throwing out your monoliths with the proverbial bathwater and going all in on microservices, you decide that actually the microservices suck too and you're going back to the monolith. Every few years the trends seem to change with organizations switching architecture patterns when existing technology solutions don't quite fix what are often the business-derived problems of data ownership, access management, privacy, storage, and mapping. In this talk, I'll provide insight into backends for databases, and why many organizations are starting to create their own graphql-based data supergraph.
About the Speaker: Akshaya Acharya, was one of the early engineers working on Hasura and currently leads DX at Hasura.
Company: Hasura
π Speaker 2: Supercharge Envoy using GraphQL
Talk Description: GraphQL is widely being adopted when you have tons of REST API's, this talk goes over GraphQL and how one can use it to create a simple interface with REST API's During this session I will demo an API Gateway called Gloo Edge with its GraphQL features. With GraphQL one can query the data that is needed, no more excess data that is returned via REST since GraphQL is a server it also introduces certain complexities such as management of another server altogether, However, with GraphQL there are a lot of things that are made easy for example you can expose 10 API's behind a single endpoint, Github also uses GraphQL and has a Public API available for users to use.
About the Speaker: Leon Nunes is a tech enthusiast currently working on Service Meshes, API gateways, IoT at Solo.io.
Company: [Solo.io](https://www.solo.io/)
π Speaker 3: Debugging GraphQL
Talk Description: When resolving a GraphQL query, lots of operations could be happening under the hood, for example, you could be, making database calls, invoking nested resolvers, calling other subgraphs, linking in your custom business logic From button click to database call, how much do you know what's going on? With tools like Network Inspector only giving you the first part of the equation βbrowser to serverβ, you are left to your own devices.
