=== Talks and Speakers
• Real-Time Data Updates for Neo4j Using GraphQL Subscriptions (by Andres Ortiz)

Andrés is a software developer in the GraphQL team at Neo4j, he also contributes to open source projects and is an amateur magician.

How GraphQL subscriptions let us build scalable real-time applications with a graph database easily.

• Public GraphQL: A developer's journey (by Gert Hengeveld )

Gert is a software engineer at Chromatic, the company behind Storybook (the open source workbench for front-end component development). He's a problem solver who loves to improve end-user's lives by building better software and has been in open source for a decade.

Designing a good API is hard. Building an API for the public is even harder. This talk is about my journey to build a GraphQL API for Chromatic. We'll consider the goals, discuss schema design, look at implementation, and touch on details like client registration, OAuth and cursor-based pagination with MongoDB. Finally we'll talk about the release process and future improvements.

• How we built a social network in 4 weeks with GraphQL and Serverless (by Yan Cui )

Yan is an experienced engineer who has run production workload at scale in AWS for over 10 years. He has been an architect and principal engineer in a variety of industries ranging from banking, e-commerce, sports streaming to mobile gaming. Yan is an AWS Serverless Hero and a regular speaker at tech conferences worldwide.

In this talk, Yan shares his experience of building a new social network for university students in just 4 weeks, using AppSync, Lambda and Algolia. You get great velocity without sacrificing quality and reliability when you combine Serverless and GraphQL. It’s really the best of both worlds!
