Introducing Babel-Blade

Babel plugins can help solve DX and UX tradeoffs by meta-programming to write code the way that is best for you while delivering code that is best for the user. Case in point: JSX - but why stop there? In this talk we explore how babel-blade solves the double declaration problem in client-side GraphQL. It works with all existing GraphQL clients and can be an interesting inspiration for more ecosystem ideas to improve the GraphQL development experience.

Maintaining a public GraphQL API

The pros and cons of GraphQL are often talked about, but one subject that is less discussed is the challenges that come with exposing a GraphQL API to the public.

In this talk, I'd like to walk you through some of the tooling and processes we've built at GitHub to make it safer for us to roll out changes to our public GraphQL schema without causing surprises to our integrators.

Some notable topics: how we deal with deprecations, how we release new features in our schema, how we ensure consistency within our schema, and more.

Christian is a self-thought software developer based in Montreal. He works on GitHub's GraphQL API and is contributor to the GraphQL Ruby library. When he is not reading about technology and programming, you may find him rock climbing or drinking a stout.
