The First Meetup
This is the first GraphRVA meetup ever! Seats are limited to 50, the capacity of our gracious hosts at the Bon Air Public Library.
When
March 9th, 5:30 - 7:30
Where
Bon Air Public Library Community Room
9103 Rattlesnake Rd,
Richmond, VA 23235
The Agenda:
5:30-6: Meet and greet, sit around and talk graphs (or anything, really) with fellow enthusiasts! Share things you're currently working, have worked on or want to work on in the graph space. This is going to be pretty loose. If you have something you want to present, let me know!
6-6:30: Max Latey, CEO of Pinboard Consulting, shows us what kind of data in the realm of sports can and should be modeled as a graph and then shows us how to do it. Questions from the audience encouraged!
6:30-7: Ben Medcalf of Medcalf Software Solutions will present on how he uses graphs to analyze and predict the NFL.
Specifically, he'll walk you through how to
- Source data from nflreadpy, an open source python package full of NFL statistics,
- Transform the team season data into season-level graphs in neo4j
- Run PageRank on the graphs.
- Voila! Graph powered power rankings.
