What we’re about
Do you love the outdoors and amazing food? Do you want to go hiking, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, snowshoeing, or tubing down the river? Maybe you just want to go out and explore the culinary paradise that is Portland, socialize, and make new friends in the process.
In this group, we'll head out to idyllic waterfalls and top-of-the-world mountain peak vistas in the Gorge, the coast, Mt Hood, and beyond. There will also be shorter hikes in the Portland area that will be followed by visits to excellent local restaurants.
We may also go on a chocolate tour of Portland, go berry picking on Sauvie Island, cycle along the beach at the coast, and much more. It's all about amazing experiences while meeting new people.
Join this group today to experience a world of unparalleled beauty, with incredible people, and amazing food. 20s to 40s only please.
** Unsolicited Messages: As a member of this group, you agree that you will not send unsolicited messages to anyone in this group who you haven't met in person. Doing so may get you removed from the group. We're all here to connect, but please make first contact in person at a meetup.
** No-Shows: Backing out of an event within 20 hours of the start time counts as a no-show. You'll be removed from the group if you have 3 no-shows within 6 months. If you change your mind about an event you signed up for, no problem, but don't wait until the last minute. It gives people on the waitlist, who may really want to come out, very little notice. Thank you for being a considerate group member :)

NOT FULL - ADD YOURSELF TO WAITlIST - PLEASE READ ALL FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO PAY & BE ADDED TO THE "GOING" LIST👌🏻:
Come get your camping fix in before the leaves turn yellow! Walton Lake is located in the Ochoco National Forest in Central Oregon and I got a big group camping site with its own BIG private area close to the lake.
This Event is being cross-promoted in another Meetup group.
This is a car camping campsite with bathrooms (toilets), picnic tables, fire pits, and potable water (however I strongly suggest bringing whatever water you need to drink for the weekend). There is even room for an RV or two if anyone wants to bring theirs.
I do a group camping event once a summer and it is always a BLAST! Cost is $43 per person for the whole weekend, this includes camp spot for 2 nights and some of the group stuff I’m putting together and bringing. Event holds 15-35 people and it’s being cross-promoted in another group to build HYPE! Think summer camp for adults, as there will be games, campfires, s'mores, water fun, great food and lots of laughs.
To be added to the going list:
Add yourself to the waitlist, then message me that you’re in for the camp trip. Venmo the $43 to me @ErikaBanke. Once I receive your Venmo payment of $43 you will be added to the “going” list. Easy Peezy. I do it this way since I pre-pay for everything. If for some reason you need to back out we will need to find someone to go who can pay, if a replacement pays then you’ll receive a refund. Otherwise it is nonrefundable. Thank you for understanding! What to bring:
-Tent/Sleeping bag, sleeping pad
-Anything you need for camp cooking, camp stove to share with group if you have one, pots and pans, utensils, plates/bowls (I am bringing disposable cups, plates, bowls and utensils)
-Sunscreen & Bug Spray!
-Water bottle
-Any flotation devices you want, I’m bringing my SUP, the lake is right there for floating, paddling, kayaking and swimming!
-Firewood if you have some to share, would be cool if this could be a group effort
-Swim suit!
-Towels
-Roasting forks for s’mores/hot dogs etc
-Pots/pans (will need several for group cooking!)
-Tin foil or ziplocks are helpful
-Cooler/Ice
-Flashlight and/or camp lamps/headlamp
-GAMES: bring your faves for group game night!
-Onesies: I will be bringing some onesies, nothing is better than running around in a onesie at camp;) SO Saturday night is onesie night if you care to participate. It also makes for some stellar group photos 😆Food:
Plan for a group taco night Friday night! I always do one taco night on my trips because it’s delicious, feeds everyone and it’s so easy. I will assign you what to bring once everyone is locked in, and will be private messaging on Meetup for all things correspondence. Other than that, bring whatever food and snacks you want for the weekend, you are in charge of providing what you need.Drinks:
Bring everything you want to drink for the weekend, of course alcohol is fine, just be self aware and courteous. Water, tea, hot chocolate, mug for hot drinks.Tents:
If anyone has a pretty large tent they are willing to share that would be helpful. Please bring your extras. If you have a tiny 1 person tent that’s fine we can fit many of those. ALSO if you have one of those shade canopies please bring it. Although there is lots of shade at this spot.Cars/Carpooling:
Carpooling is a MUST! We’ve never had an issue figuring out car
-pools for a trip. I will already be in Central Oregon so I am bringing my car. We will figure this out more in the group comments closer to the event. Since we will have friends from Portland and Central Oregon it would be helpful if you post you can drive and how many seats you have available in the comments, then others who would like to ride with you can message you. Please be prepared to share your phone number as needed for coordinating plans.Google Maps Link to Walton Lake. Once you arrive look for the Small Group Sit, Loop: Area Walton Lake
Google Maps to Walton LakeSorry NO pets!
That’s most of the important details! Please bring an easy-going and collaborative attitude. My weekend trips are always very laid-back, connective and fun. Be prepared for epic game nights, fun on the water, conversations by the fire (I’ll also bring my acoustic guitar for anyone who wants to provide ambience), camp cooking, laughing until you cry and going home with a bunch of new friends🥰 See you all at Camp Walton!
Refund Policy: Refunds are provided within a months notice of event date. Later notice is only refundable if we can find a replacement for your spot. Thank you for being considerate!
