Jan 1, 2025 Polar Plunge - Neahkahnie beach. NEW YEAR RESOLUTION KARMA.
Details
PLEASE USE GOOGLE MAPS LINK BELOW FOR MEETING LOCATION
Ice cold sand, frigid water and possibly a strong wind chill, it just cannot get better! On Jan 1st, come join the hardy crowd for a memorable Polar Plunge into the Pacific Ocean.
Polar plunge is organized by the city of Manzanita community members and is FREE to attend.
Meeting location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/hPNjxVnEYPGV65bw6
No preparations are necessary since nothing can prepare anyone to jump into the Pacific mid winter. But I can guarantee that once you come out of the water it will be transformative.
Participate at your own risk and only if you are physically fit. In addition, strong enough willpower to withstand frigid cold conditions in a swimsuit for about 10 mins is a MUST.
WHAT TO BRING
- Warm clothes to shield you from possible wind chills before and after event. Bring a rain jacket as well.
- Towel and change of clothes
- Warm shoes
- Water
- Hot drink (recommended)
- Camera and a buddy to record you after the event (if you want to remember this for the rest of the year)
- Anything else that will help keep you warm
We meet at 10:30 am at Neahkahnie beach (use link) for short socializing, public bonfire and getting acclimatized to what we are about to get ourselves into. Please click on map to get exact location.
Depending on group's interest after the plunge, we might go to a restaurant nearby for lunch (optional).
My experience back in 2023 is very well summarized by the Oregonian,

Looking forward to meeting you all.
