Tunnel Bypass & Goldmine Loop Trails - 4 miles

## Details

Goldmine Loop Trail
Distance: 4.4 miles
Difficulty: Moderate, These trails are some of the lesser used ones and probably in rougher shape.

Elevation: It looks like we will have a 500 ft elevation drop over the course of a mile once we hit the goldmine loop trail and the rest of the hike will be regaining that elevation.
Type of hike: Loop/Lollipop

We will meet at the trail head parking lot at the end of "road to nowhere". It is a weekend, so I encourage carpooling. You will be required to have a parking tag for this lot. Also, I will leave Deep Creek campground about 9:00 am and a few people are welcome to carpool with me.

I am (very) slowly completing my 900 miles and these are 2 trails I have not yet done since I have always lacked either the time or energy when doing other trails in the area so I figured this is a good opportunity for other people to knock these trails out as well.

I plan go at a casual pace and take the Tunnel Bypass trail until it intersects with the Goldmine Loop trail at about 0.4 miles. We will then take that trail (2 miles) until it intersects with the Lakeshore trail and then take the Tunnel Bypass trail (1.6 miles) back to the parking lot.

WHAT TO BRING
We always suggest carrying the 10 essentials when going into the woods. You can download a pdf file from REI here: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/day-hiking-checklist.html
Because it’s the Appalachian Mountains, be mindful of the weather and bring the necessary waterproof outer layers, insulation, water, and snacks to be safe.
