Details
We will do a series of trails to add up to a total closer to 3 miles. There is some section that are a little steep but it some where under a 100 foot elevation gain for each section. Also please bring insect repellant with deet or something the repels ticks, I did find one after a short hike.
Here is an excerpt from their web site:http://utarboretum.tennessee.edu/
"The Arboretum serves as an outdoor classroom to university students in a variety of fields. It is also a place that provides a natural laboratory for research in plant uses, genetics and adaptability, insect and disease control, and the management of associated natural resources. The facility is recognized as an official Wildlife Observation Area and part of the National Watchable Wildlife Program by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. It is also recognized by the Holly Society of America as an official Holly test garden and the trails are part of the Tennessee Recreational Trail System. The Arboretum is a project of the University of Tennessee Forest Resources Research and Education Center. It generally hosts more than 30,000 visitors annually. This 250 acre research and education facility has over 2,500 native and exotic woody plant specimens that represent 800 species, varieties, and cultivars. The UT Arboretum is truly a place for all seasons. A spring or summer walk on the Heath Cove Trail, one of the older trails in the UT Arboretum Trail System, can be a relaxing and rewarding experience."
