Details
Pace: about 2 mph, average walking pace
Mileage: 7 miles
Elevation gain/loss: 950 feet
Difficulty: moderate, hill on Jakes creek and milage
We will meet at Jake's Creek parking area at the end of Elkmount road. You will need a parking pass.
Then head up Jake's Creek trail it's wide trail and starts a little steep but we will take our time. At about 3/4 of a mile we will intersect with Cucumber Gap trail this will narrow and continue to climb till the 1 1/2 mile mark. At this point the trail will flatten out and eventually make its way back down to the Little River Trail (old railroad bed). We will take this up to Back Country Site 21, munch on a few snacks. Little River is a wide trail along the river that will slowly make its way back down to Elkmount road. We will have a short climb back through the old cabins to the parking lot.
Here is a link to the trail stats. There is a 10-16% grade for the first 1 1/2 miles, but that means that must of the climbing out of the way.
