ABEL TASMAN TRACK: A 3-Day Beach & Forest Escape – 60 km

GOLDEN BEACHES, turquoise waters, native bush, and one of New Zealand's most iconic coastal walks.

We will walk the classic southern-to-northern section of the Abel Tasman Coastal Track over three days, starting in Marahau and finishing in Wainui (or Totaranui depending on logistics). This event is suitable for hikers with solid endurance, as two of the days are long.
This trip includes one night in Motueka before the walk to organize gear and supplies. For the return journey, participants can choose to fly back the day after the hike or stay an extra day in Nelson to relax.

ITINERARY

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2026 – TRAVEL TO MOTUEKA

• From Auckland: Fly to Nelson.
• Everyone travels independently to Nelson. Afternoon:
• Public shuttle from Nelson Airport to Motueka (approx. 45-60 mins).
• Time to visit the supermarket for last-minute supplies (Motueka has full-sized supermarkets). Evening:
• Overnight stay in Motueka.
• Accommodation options include motels and holiday parks.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2026 – DAY 1: MARAHAU TO ANCHORAGE (12.4 KM)

• Morning: Short shuttle transfer from Motueka to Marahau (approx. 30 mins).
• Begin the official Abel Tasman Coastal Track at Marahau.
• Gradual coastal walking through native forest, estuaries, and golden beaches.
• Overnight at Anchorage Hut.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2026 – DAY 2: ANCHORAGE TO AWAROA (23 KM)

• Pass Torrent Bay, Cleopatra's Pool, Bark Bay, and Tonga Quarry.
• Long but stunning coastal day with several bays and viewpoints.
• Overnight at Awaroa Hut (26 bunks.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2026 – DAY 3: AWAROA TO WAINUI (25 KM)

• Cross the Awaroa Inlet at low tide only (exact tide times will be confirmed closer to the date).
• Continue along the northern section to Wainui Bay.
• NOTE: Depending on conditions and group preference, we may finish earlier at Totaranui to take a water taxi, otherwise, we walk to Wainui for a shuttle pickup. Evening:
• Return transfer to Nelson.
• From Wainui Bay: Direct shuttle to Nelson (approx. 2.5 hours).
• From Totaranui: Water taxi + shuttle combo to Nelson.
• Overnight in Nelson.
