Trip Overview
We'll begin with a night flight from Auckland, arriving in Tahiti before dawn. After a restful morning in Papeete, we'll visit the town and then go hiking over the following two days. After that, we'll catch the ferry to Ra'iātea, where another great adventure begins. This journey will blend thrilling outdoor activities like hiking and climbing with opportunities to relax on stunning beaches and explore vibrant local culture. With five days to explore, we'll discover the best of Ra'iātea's trails and peaks, experience its pristine lagoons, and, after getting back to Tahiti, enjoy some extra moments relaxing or beachcombing.

Itinerary
Monday 30 November 2026: Departure from Auckland
- Evening: Meet at Auckland International Airport at 5:30 pm and board our night flight to Faa'a International Airport, Tahiti.
Tuesday 1 December 2026: Arrival in Tahiti
- 1:25 am: Arrive in Papeete and transfer to a nearby hotel for a short rest.
- Morning: Breakfast and relax. Option to visit Papeete's vibrant markets or enjoy a leisurely stroll along the waterfront.
- Afternoon: Continue exploring Papeete or relax at the hotel.
Wednesday 2 December 2026: Hiking and Exploration in Tahiti
- Full Day: We'll go on a scenic hike in Tahiti's lush interior, walking the Fautaua Valley trail to the stunning Fautaua Waterfall. We'll enjoy breathtaking views of the island's rugged beauty. More details to follow.
Thursday 3 December 2026: Another Day of Hiking in Tahiti
- Full Day: We'll explore another iconic hiking route, the Mount Aorai trail. This trail offers a mix of challenging ascents and rewarding views, with opportunities to connect with Tahiti's rich flora and fauna. More details to follow.
Friday 4 December 2026: Ferry to Ra'iātea
- Early Morning: Depart Papeete by ferry for Ra'iātea (approximately 4.5 hours).
- Afternoon: Arrive in Ra'iātea, settle into accommodation, and enjoy a relaxed orientation by the lagoon.
Saturday 5 December 2026: Summit Mount Temehani
- Full Day: Embark on a challenging but rewarding hike to Mount Temehani, Ra'iātea's most iconic peak. Known as the "Sacred Mountain," it's home to rare endemic plants like the Tiare Apetahi. Revel in panoramic views of the island and beyond.
Sunday 6 December 2026: Coastal and Lagoon Exploration
- Morning: We'll begin with a gentle hike along Ra'iātea's coastal trails, offering breathtaking views of the lagoon and surrounding islands.
- Afternoon: We'll enjoy a lagoon excursion with optional snorkeling in coral gardens.
Monday 7 December 2026: Sacred Sites and Cultural Discovery
- Morning: We'll visit Marae Taputapuātea, a UNESCO World Heritage site and ancient Polynesian spiritual center. More details to follow.

Tuesday 8 December 2026: Return to Tahiti
- Morning: Depart Ra'iātea by ferry for Tahiti.
- Afternoon: Arrive in Papeete, enjoy the vibrant life of the city once more, or unwind before our late-night departure.
Wednesday 9 December 2026: Return to Auckland
- 3:00 am: Depart Faa'a International Airport.
- 7:40 am: Arrive in Auckland with incredible memories.
