This event combines the lush interior of the Waitākere Ranges with the spectacular coastal cliffs of the Mercer Bay Loop. It is a fantastic training day for those who enjoy technical tracks and sustained vertical gain, offering some of the best ridge and cliff-top views in Auckland.

### The Itinerary
- 09:00 AM: Meet at Karekare Beach Car Park.
- 09:15 AM – 12:45 PM: Zion Hill & Pararaha Coastal Circuit (~10.5 km) We begin with the ascent up Zion Hill Track. From the junction, we descend into the Pararaha Valley. The return leg takes us through the Pararaha sand dunes and back along the coast to the Karekare carpark. This section involves significant elevation and varied terrain underfoot, especially the sandy return.
- 12:45 PM – 01:15 PM: Lunch Break at the Karekare picnic area.
- 01:15 PM – 02:45 PM: Coman’s Track Ascent A steady 1.5-hour climb starting from the valley, heading up the ridge toward the Mercer Bay junction.
- 02:45 PM – 03:30 PM: The Mercer Bay Loop Once at the top, we’ll complete this iconic circuit along the Te Ahua Point cliffs—the highest sea cliffs in Auckland—offering expansive Tasman Sea views.
- 03:30 PM – 05:00 PM: Return Descent Heading back down via Coman’s / Ahu Ahu to the car park.
- Optional: A 10-minute stroll to Karekare Falls to wrap up the day.

### What to Bring
- Gear: Sturdy hiking boots are essential. All gear must be spotless for Kauri Dieback prevention.
- Hydration: Minimum 2.5 – 3 Litres of water.
- Food: Substantial lunch and high-energy snacks.

- Fitness: Please note the high cumulative elevation (over 1,000m). This is a demanding day suitable for experienced, fit hikers.
- Self-Reliance: Your safety is your responsibility. Ensure you are prepared for coastal wind and sudden weather changes.
