Electric Power Grid League

Details
Hello! Greetings from Not Greater Boston! I figured that since this group, you know, still exists, I might as well try to organize an event, albeit a remote one. So there's a website where you can play good old Power Grid asynchronously, and since I know there are plenty of PG fans in this group AND I'm feeling Old School, I thought I might try to revive the Electric League format that those of you who are also Old School might remember.
Basically, the idea is that I'm going to be organizing an online game of Power Grid. If more people sign up for this event than can be reasonably contained in a game of Power Grid, we will break into multiple tiered divisions by self-reported skill level, everyone will play a game with the other folks on their tier, and at the end of the game, the first place finishers will move up a tier and the last place finishers down a tier. In this way everyone ends up playing opponents roughly at their appropriate skill level.
Here's the deets:
-
The website is https://www.boardgamers.space/. Signing up is pretty straightforward. The graphics on the website are a bit spartan but they get the job done, and the site works on mobile devices. If you're interested in this event, join the site right away. (It's free.)
-
IMPORTANT: If you RSVP for this event, please leave a comment here telling us your username for the BGS site and giving us an approximate idea of your skill and experience level with the game on the below scale:
5/ I am a very competitive and experienced player comfortable with the game at the highest level.
4/ I have played a lot of Power Grid and have a pretty good grasp of advanced tactics.
3/ I have played more than a few times and know some basic strategy.
2/ I have played before and I know the bits move but I don't really know anything about Power Grid strategy.
1/ This is the first time I've ever played, though I know the rules.
- ALSO IMPORTANT: These will be asynchronous games, meaning you will periodically check the site and take your turns when you can. Like any auction-heavy asynchronous game, PG can get bogged down if people are only taking one or two turns a day. If you are unable to submit moves more than a couple of times per day, this is probably not the right event for you.
We'll see who has signed up and left the requested comments by Monday and make further plans at that point.
