Thinking Through the Gospel of Matthew
Details
Here are some questions to think about before the study.
- Why do you think John asked this question? Was it for himself or for others? Does Jesus answer it directly?
- In verses 16–19, Jesus compares the generation to children who are never satisfied. How might this critique apply to the ways people respond to spiritual truth today?
- Jesus’ warning to the unrepentant cities (vv. 20–24) highlights accountability for the light we receive. How should this influence how we respond to God’s invitations or teachings in our own lives?
- In the famous invitation to come to Him for rest (vv. 28–30), what does Jesus reveal about His character and about the kind of “rest” He offers—and how might we practically take His “yoke” upon us?
