Intelligence: An Exploration of Its Malleability and Limitations

“The Nature of Intelligence: An Exploration of the Malleability and Limitations of Intelligence” By Alexander Puutio
All of us know what intelligence is, but how would you explain it to an anthropologist from another world? Is intelligence simply a factor of our mental acuity and computational speed, the breadth of our working memory and our ability to predict and adjust to new situations and information, or is it perhaps a mixture of all the above? Is intelligence fixed from birth and determined by our genes or is it something much more malleable and within our capacity to improve?
During his talk, Alexander Puutio will explore the nature of intelligence, its origins and limitations based on what we collectively know today. The talk will also examine how intelligence evolves and what we can do to think and act smarter in our daily lives.
Alexander Puutio is a Ph.D. researcher at the University of Turku and an adjunct professor at NYU Stern School of Business.
