Meet Community & Remove Invasive Species at Burnside-Watkiss Park, View Royal!

We will be removing invasive Daphne, Himalayan Blackberry, English Ivy, and Scotch Broom from this beautiful park!
This is our FIRST GVGT activity of 2023! We will have lots of goodies and hot tea for everyone in attendance. Come help us start off a great year of hands-on conservation!

MEETING SPOT/PARKING
Meet near the NW entrance of the park along Burnside Rd (see map pin here: https://bit.ly/3DdIFMO). There is parking at the corner of Watkiss Way and Burnside Rd.

WASHROOMS
There are no washrooms on site.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
• Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty
• Long sleeves and long pants to protect from thorny plants and insects
• Refillable water bottle with lots of water (we will have water for you to refill with if needed!)
• Sturdy closed toe shoes/boots
• A hat, sunscreen
• Rain jacket in case it rains
• Optional: Your own gardening gloves, tools, and/or safety glasses
WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED TO YOU
• Gloves, tools, and safety glasses if you don't have your own
• An educational instruction on what to do (no experience necessary!)
• Refreshments
• A small thank you gift at the end, donated by a Canadian and/or eco-friendly business
FLOW OF THE ACTIVITY
• Meet at 9:45am for sign-in & introductions (please be on time)
• If you can't find us, please call 778-677-9078
• Receive instruction & demo for the activity
• Remove invasive plants
• Take break for refreshments half way through
• Volunteer until 1 pm then sign-out at end, take home an eco-gift!
