Youth Activity! Celebrating Earth Day by Removing Invasive Plants at UVic!


Details
We're removing invasive plants (such as English ivy) from the University of Victoria campus.
This activity is being scheduled in collaboration with local teachers and students according to class schedule times.
Are you a community member who wants to be a part of this activity? Email Kaitlin at Kaitlin@greenteamscanada.ca to find out how you can get involved! Please do not attend this activity without talking to Kaitlin first. Thank you!
Class session times:
Butchmann: 8:45am - 9:45am
UVic Continuing Studies: 10:00am - 11:30am
This is a great opportunity to meet new people, learn about environmental issues and increase biodiversity :)
This activity will go on rain or shine.

We will be meeting at the entrance to Alumni Chip Trail by Parking Lot 8 at UVic
PARKING
Parking is available in Parking Lot 8 or on Gordon Head Road

BUS

WASHROOMS
There are in the Visual Arts Buildings and Phoenix Building close to parking lot 10
WHAT TO BRING
- Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty
- Long sleeves and long pants to protect from thorny plants, & insects
- Refillable water bottle with water (we have water for refills)
- Sturdy closed toe shoes/boots
- Rain jacket in case it rains
- Hat
- Your own gardening gloves, tools and/or safety glasses if you prefer - otherwise we’ll provide these.
WHAT WE PROVIDE YOU
- Gloves, tools and safety glasses
- Education and demonstration on what we will be doing (no experience necessary!)
- Refreshments
- Photos of you in action
- Volunteer letters (on request)
FLOW OF THE ACTIVITY
Meet at the start of your class session time, receive instruction and then engage in removing invasive plants. We will provide snacks and drinks at the end of the session time.
