Celebrating Earth Month by engaging local students in an invasive English ivy removal!

We are excited to be engaging students across two sessions:

Rosenberg: 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Butchmann: 12:40pm - 1:45pm
Please arrive at your class' designated time.

This activity will run RAIN OR SHINE! β›… We will have fun no matter the weather!

This activity is being run with local teachers to provide hands-on education to students. This activity is not open to the public.

MEETING SPOT πŸ“
We will be meeting at the entrance to Alumni Chip Trail by Parking Lot 8 at UVic!

WASHROOMS
There are in the Visual Arts Buildings and Phoenix Building close to parking lot 10

FLOW OF THE ACTIVITY

  • Meet at your designated time.
  • Receive educational instruction, safety talk & demo on how to remove invasive plants.
  • Remove invasive plants until the end of your class' session.
  • Enjoy yummy snacks before heading back to school!

WHAT TO BRING πŸ§₯πŸ‘–
Please come prepared for outdoor, hands-on work:

  • Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
  • Long sleeves & long pants (to protect from thorny plants + bugs)
  • Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Rain jacket (just in case!)
  • Hat & weather-appropriate layers

WHAT WE PROVIDE 🧀πŸͺ
We’ve got youth & parent chaperones covered with:

  • Gloves, tools & safety glasses
  • Instruction, safety talk, & environmental education
  • Friendly, experienced staff support
  • Snacks & refreshments
  • Photos & videos of the day

GETTING THERE 🚌 πŸš—
We will be coordinating with the school to organize transportation, whether that be a bus ride or a healthy walk to be eco-friendly and get more exercise!
