Meet at Matheson Lake parking lot at the end of Matheson Lake Park Road, Metchosin V9C 4G9. Registration starts at 9:30 am and closes at 9:55 am. The walk begins at 10:00 am.

The 5-km route, rated 2B, follows the Galloping Goose for part of the walk, climbs through Douglas Fir and Cedar forests, then follows the Matheson Lake trail to return to the start point.

The 10 km route (rated 2C) takes walkers through the forest to Pearson College where the Grey Whale skeleton can be viewed accompanied by an in-depth article on the whale itself and how it was brought back to the college by students. Along the way we visit a hidden waterfall and stop at the top by the observatory. A hiking pole is highly recommended. Proper footwear is mandatory
