North Shore Cyclists - Blazing Saddles

Six days to go before the 2024 Blazing Saddles Century rolls out and gleaming bikes, ratcheting free wheels, and smiling faces fill the roads of Boston’s north shore. And what could be better? The weather forecast promises an exceptional August day for cycling with temperatures in the 70s F and winds around 5 mph.
There is still time to be part of this annual event. The Blazing Saddles Century (https://nscyc.org/blazing-saddles-century-2024) registration is open until midnight, Wednesday, August 14. Do not wait until the last minute to register, as spots may not be available.
Five routes to choose from before or even during your ride: 38, 51, 64, 80, and 101 miles. This year, the routes have been modified to incorporate some additional scenic segments. The routes are freshly arrowed and many of the roads have been recently paved, making for smoother riding.
There are four rest stops along the route. Each rest stop is stocked with nourishing snacks and beverages and staffed with enthusiastic volunteers eager to serve you and support your ride. There are mechanics at the rest stops, as well as at the ride start, and roving SAG teams throughout the course.

• Rest Stop 4: Vineyard Hill Reservation

A great day of cycling with friends and new acquaintances is not complete without a post-ride celebration. As in the past, this year’s BSC will end with a festive picnic at the Triton High School featuring pizza, the ever-popular BSC hot dogs, brownies and cookies, and various beverages.
