TNR Breakheart Saugus

Details
TNR will moves back to Thursday this week. On July 10, we'll ride to Breakheart Reservation in Saugus on a route that carries us through several metro north towns on a flat-ish 30 mile route with two climbs. The backside of the route will pass Soc's Ice Cream shop in Melrose, which may require a stop. After Ice Cream, we'll return via the Middlesex Fells area.
This ride will again start near the Alewife Craft Food Hall/Alewife Garage. We'll keep a pace of about 15 mph on the average given the flat terrain and long stretches with no turns. This is intended to be a no-drop ride, but again, you should be in good riding condition with a road bike. We will wait near the top of the few hills and before we turn after long stretches so that everyone can ride at a comfortable pace.
While we should return comfortably before dark, you're encouraged to bring lights. Make sure that your bike is in good working order before you leave home. Helmets required. You are responsible for your own safety.
Registration closes at midnight on Wednesday before the ride. If there are fewer than 4 riders, I will cancel. If you sign-up, show up. Everyone will be waitlisted to assure that dedicated riders get a spot. 10 riders max.
I will offer a brief safety talk before we depart promptly at 5:45. If rain is in the forecast, I will cancel the ride by 4 pm.
Also, be sure to sign up for the North Shore Cyclist Blazing Saddles century. There are 4 mapped road rides from 32 to 100 miles, and this year a mixed terrain 54 miler as been added for you gravel riders. Check it out... https://nscyc.org/blazing-saddles-century-2025
for more details.
If anyone is traveling by car, there is paid parking in the Alewife Garage and some free parking in the lot at the Summer Shack kitty corner from the start. You may also find a spot at Thompson Field in Arlington along the Minuteman path.
