Hola good people,

Join us for the next GreeceJS meetup, where we'll learn about the latest developments in natural language processing and discuss their implications for our work. Our first speaker, Rui Miguel Forte, will give an introductory presentation on LLMs (Large Language Models), which are among the most powerful tools for processing text data today. Rui will explain how LLMs work, what they can do, what they can't do and prepare the ground for the next talk.

After the presentation, we'll have a roundtable discussion on the topic of ChatGPT and other LLMs, a new technology that has recently been making waves in the community. We'll discuss some of the ethical and social implications of these technologies, such as the impact on jobs and the need for responsible AI.

This will be an interactive discussion, so we encourage everyone to come with questions, ideas, and opinions to share. Whether you're a seasoned NLP practitioner or just getting started, you'll find something valuable in this meetup.

Once again we have with us Causaly as our sponsor for this event!

  • Rui Miguel Forte, Director of Engineering (NLP/ML) at Causaly

The presentation will offer some possible answers to various questions that many of us have around Large Language Models (LLMs). How do they work? Why are we seeing such an explosion of interest and hype around them now? How can we use them? Who is making them? And how might they impact our day to day lives as engineers?

Rui Miguel Forte has spent the better part of his career working on growing data science and analytics teams at various industries and companies, including Workable and GWI. He has taught data science to Master's level students at AUEB, is a published author, and started learning machine learning way before it was cool. Today he is an engineering director at Causaly helping pharma companies leverage vast swathes of biomedical literature to solve problems in drug discovery.
