March Greek Language MeetUp and Olive Oil Tasting

In honor of Greek Independence Day, we'll revolutionize things a bit and hold our March Greek Language MeetUp on Saturday, March 21st, at 2:00, at Laconiko in Manassas, Virginia. Laconiko has a showroom and event space where we can participate in a wine and olive oil tasting - and practice the mother tongue.

As usual, there are a few other Hellenic events on the horizon.

• On Saturday, March 14, 2:00 p.m, our friends at the Hellenic Society Prometheas present A Tribute to the late Prof. Eleni Glykatzi-Ahrweiler by Prof. Sophia Mergiali-Saha (University of Athens, ΕΚΠΑ) at the Hellenic Center, Bethesda, MD. More details to follow.
• Prometheas will hold its annual Greek Independence Day celebration on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Grand Hall of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda. Κeynote speakers Prof. Giorgos Kontogeorgis and Prof. Lyvia Parara will speak on "Ioannis Kapodistrias: The European Diplomat, Historian and Nation's Governor."
• Greek-American humorist and author David Sedaris will be in DC on Sunday, April 19th, at 3 pm, at DAR Constitution Hall. Tickets are between $50 and $75. Let me know if we should try to make it a MeetUp.
