The Creation Stories

Geeks, Greek myth, snacks, and beer. This week, we'll cover the creation myths, starting with the pre-Greek Pelasgian story of the goddess Eurynome and the cosmic serpent Ophion. From there, we'll shift to the Greek creation myth: the emergence of the primordial deities, the Protogenoi. We will look at how these narratives compare to other mythologies of the ancient Mediterranean and examine the hidden meanings behind the symbolism. We'll close with the union of Oranos & Gia, setting up for next session's dive: the birth of the Titans and the rise of Cronos.
