We're changing our format slightly with a short talk, about 15-20 minutes, at the start of the evening - subjects and projects to get you thinking, inspire, or get involved with.

We'll then have an opportunity for questions before we break out into our usual Green Drinks social and you can continue to chat

We're thrilled to have, as our inaugural speaker, the remarkable Sarah Finch, now an Exeter resident that took on the might of Big Oil and won!

Sarah is a climate campaigner, originally from Surrey, who took on the monumental challenge and for five years, fought a legal battle over plans for oil production at Horse Hill in Surrey. And in June 2024 she won a stunning victory in the Supreme Court, which ruled that the greenhouse gas emissions from burning oil & gas must be considered in the environmental assessment process when they are being planned.

This ground-breaking judgment is already having enormous consequences in the UK, with the new government decision not to defend plans for a new coal mine in Cumbria and now the giant Rosebank and Jackdaw oil and gas fields in the North Sea. And this this precedent and win for people and climate will bolster the hundreds of cases, all over the world, against Fossil Fuel polluters

If you want to hear the talk please RSVP if you can, so we have an idea of numbers and please try and arrive promptly so we can get started by 19:30

About Green Drinks

We're a very friendly group and the event is hosted so you will be greeted and introduced to others, so please don't worry about coming on your own, you'll very quickly make new friends and settle in.

And you don't need to RSVP, although that does help me identify you, and you don't need to register or be a part of this group - it's open to all.

Join fellow lovers of nature and wildlife for a friendly social, an agenda free, relaxed evening for drinks (food if you like) and free-flowing conversation with new friends.

We'd love to meet you and do encourage your friends, family, or colleagues to join us.

As host I'll make sure you feel welcome and relaxed πŸ™‚

The evening starts at 19:00, the talk at about 19:15, but you can pop in at any time that suits you.

If you do enjoy the evening we'd really appreciate your making a small donation of 50p or Β£1 on the night (there will be a collection tin there). It costs me (Vipul) Β£240 a year to have this meetup account.

P.S. Green Drinks is not part of any political Party and, more importantly, there are no actual green drinks 😬
