Ring in the New Year on Owls Head in Groton State Park. Offered in partnership with the Vermont State Parks. We will park in the multi-use connector trail lot off Route 232 past the New Discovery State Park. Please attempt to carpool if possible. Carpooling will be available from the Richmond Park and Ride lot, departing at 11:15 AM. Starting at 12:30 PM, we will hike up Owl’s Head Trail to the top and hopefully get a nice view of Kettle Lake from the stubby fire tower. We will then try to meet up with a group led by a Vermont State Parks recreation specialist at the shelter atop the access road, where there will be hot chocolate, a fire, and marshmallows! We will head back down the way we came after meeting with the Vermont State Park group.
Spikes are required, and if we are blessed with snow, snowshoes may be required. Please leave your doggo at home.
Easy to moderate hike, relaxed to moderate pace. 5.0 miles, 800’ elevation gain. Group limit 10, contact leader by 12/29. Trip leader: Michael Mortelliti [michaeljmortelliti@gmail.com](mailto:michaeljmortelliti@gmail.com) 413-884-5932.
