The North Country Trail is a 4,800 mile trail across eight states that starts in Vermont and ends in North Dakota. Unfortunately we do not have time to do all of the trail, but will only do a small section of it. Starting from Chimney Point State Park in Vermont we will walk along the footpath on the Lake Champlain bridge at the narrowest part of Lake Champlain to Crown Point Historical Park in New York. Once in New York we will visit the ruined fort, explore the trail system onsite and visit the beautiful stone lighthouse, all the while learning about the history of the area. There is a real Rodin sculpture at the lighthouse that came all the way from France!
Please keep your furry friends at home. Carpooling will be available from the Starbucks parking lot by the Shaws at the intersection of 189 and Shelburne Road (Route 7) Easy Walk. Relaxed pace. 5 miles. 200′ elevation gain. Group limit 10. RSVP by 4/8. michaeljmortelliti@gmail.com, 413-884-5932
