Huntington Gorge
Details
Huntington Gorge is a sight to behold in the springtime when all the snow is melting. It is a veritable deafening, raging torrent of water. Description from the Vermont River Conservancy: “with pools and waterfalls formed over eons as the Huntington River has carved its way through bedrock schist. Over time, flowing water has sculpted the rock walls into dramatic chutes and bowls that create stunning cascades, particularly dramatic during periods of high water.” We will walk along the Huntington River on the Dugway Road (a secluded dirt road) and take the little side trails to see the gorge and parts of the river. Carpooling from the Richmond Park and Ride will be available and is required as the lot is not large.
Note: The gorge has claimed the lives of many. Going up close to the water by the gorge will be forbidden and any who do not follow this rule will be immediately expelled from the outing.
